BIOGRAPHY
After a successful year in 2008 promoting his original music around the world, Gian is taking a well deserved break back in Newcastle this time going back to his roots, performing a series of solo gigs covering some of the most loved songs of yesterday and today in his own unique style. Gian’s catalogue of covers reads like a musical timeline crossing many popular genres from motown soul, rock, blues, 80’s pop and funk, reggae, R&B, top 40 hits and some great latin tunes for the Spanish guitar lovers. Whether you’re a dancer, rocker or just a music appreciator, there’s definitely something for everyone and every occasion.
Gian is more commonly associated for his original music which saw him release his debut world/pop fusion album “Feel the Music” in November 2007 through ABC/Warner Music. He also collected the most awards ever received by one artist in one year at the 2005 ABC Music Awards acquiring the gongs for “Best Artist”, “Best Male Vocalist”, “Broadcaster’s Choice”, and “APRA Songwriter of the Year”. Prior to these he received awards for “Best Instrumental Artist In Australia”, “Top 5 Artist in R&B Category” and “Top 5 Artist in World Music Category” at the 2004 MusicOz Awards. Gian instrumental track “Aire” received acclaim becoming the 11th most downloaded instrumental track on the US I-tunes charts in 2006. On his world tour in 2008, Gian had the opportunity to perform with the likes of Miko Weaver (Prince’s guitarist from The Family), Chris Lee (blues session guitarist formerly performing with The Rolling Stones), and Jeronimo Maya (legendary Spanish Flamenco guitarist), picking up some tips and licks along the way, you’re sure to enjoy Gian at one of his covers gigs this summer.
