My
Journey
Being
crowned Mrs World Australia
2009 was an amazing experience
in itself. What has happened
since then has changed me as a
person for life. I have grown
to be a more confident and
‘take charge’ woman, more
likely to seize the day and
use every moment to make
something, somewhere change
for the better.
Mrs
World 2009
The
world final in Vietnam was an
amazing 3 week journey. I met
so many incredible women from
all over the world, different
ages and cultures, different
personalities. I had an
opportunity to showcase
Australia on the international
stage, and I had an absolute
blast doing it. I deeply envy
the woman crowned Mrs World
2010 because I’d give
anything to do it all again in
Korea!
Everything from my
visit to the Vung Tau school
for special needs children to
being selected for a
helicopter ride over the Bia
Ria Vung Tau peninsula with
Mrs Indonesia, to the
hilarious evening dance
rehearsals with the girls,
these are all moments I will
cherish forever. The
international pageant is an
amazing experience. It was so
much more than I expected.
Ovarian
Cancer Australia
Becoming
the official spokesperson for
Ovarian Cancer Australia meant
that I would actually have to
overcome my fear of public
speaking! I’ve done that and
so much more since last year.
I have appeared on behalf of
OCA at fundraisers and
sporting events, I joined the
Sydney campaign for Ovarian
Cancer Awareness month,
February 2010 and working
closely with sponsors Napoleon
Perdis we made a huge impact
on awareness raising efforts
across NSW. During Ovarian
Cancer Awareness month I took
an active role in raising
awareness durin TV, radio
interviews and web campaigns
for OCA. I was official Master
of Ceremonies at the OCA
‘Health, Wealth and Style’
party and appeared at in-store
promotional campaigns and at
the staff rally for the
wonderful team at Napoleon
Perdis. I was made an Ovarian
Cancer Australia Community
Ambassador in February 2010
and I hope to continue working
with the girls at OCA in the
future so that we can make
some real positive changes to
the level of awareness about
Ovarian Cancer in Australia.
Mrs
Australia International 2010
I
am so excited to be Mrs
Australia International 2010
and to be heading off to
Chicago in July for the world
final. Being a double
title-holder itself is an
accomplishment I had never
dreamed of. I really hope to
make a seriously fabulous,
beautiful and uniquely
Australian mark on the USA at
Mrs International. I’m
already surrounded by positive
energy for this competition
and I’m taking it with me
all the way! I hope with the
valuable experience I have
gained from Mrs World 2009 I
will bring some more exposure
for Ovarian Cancer Australia
(My chosen platform charity)
and raise awareness about the
early warning signs of Ovarian
Cancer at an international
level.
With the loving support
of my Husband Vik (who will be
accompanying me to Chicago)
and my Daughter Sahara, and
all my family and friends here
in Australia I know I will
make some great Aussie waves.
To my family, my friends, my
facebook fans and all the
wonderful hard-working married
Aussie women out there. Thank
you for your support and
encouragement.
Remember to believe in
yourself, believe in positive
change and beautiful awareness.
